about ME
Hi,
My name is Lilia Berenice Hernandez Galusha. I am originally from Torreon Coahuila, Mexico, but grew up in Arkansas, where I lived for twenty-three years. I received my Bachelors of Fine Art from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. There, I developed a love for craft and applied textile work in my illustrations.
Furthering my affection for craft, four years after graduating, I moved to Portland, Oregon to pursue a Masters of Fine Art. I received my Masters degree from the MFA Applied Craft + Design program in May 2019.
Still residing in Portland, two friends and I started a shared studio space called Material Loop. There we foster a creative community where we value craft, exchange and art engagement. Material Loop now houses studios for 4 multidisciplinary artists who work in textiles, ceramics, wood-working, paper and so much more.
